A guy named Dan invited me to dinner with a small group, including two people, Susan and Greg, who are notorious for taking advantage of others. They often order the priciest items, then complain about finances and expect others to cover the difference.
At this dinner, Susan and Greg ordered $200 worth of food, while I just ordered a $4 drink. When the check came, Greg tried to split it six ways, but I reminded him it should only be three ways since three of us hadn’t eaten. Dan, who had eaten about $50 worth, was shocked to get stuck with a $146.98 bill.
I left a $10 tip and walked out. The next day, Greg and Susan texted me, calling me an AH for not ordering food, while Dan was upset I’d caused him trouble. I explained that Dan could’ve asked them to pay him back, but he always enables their behavior. I admit it was a petty move, but I’m tired of being dragged into their schemes.
