I Bought My Seat—Reclining Is Part of the Deal

I (28M) was on a 12-hour flight last week, sitting in economy. After reclining my seat for comfort, a pregnant woman behind me complained about the lack of legroom. I politely asked if I could help, but she snapped at me, calling me selfish. I got frustrated and responded, “If you want space, buy business class!”

Later, I noticed she was gone, but a flight attendant gave me a card with baby store coupons and a thank-you message. Turns out, she was the wife of a VIP passenger, and now I feel embarrassed. I didn’t know her connections, but I still think I had the right to recline my seat. Did I overreact?
