Some surrogates for Vice President Kamala Harris blame her loss to President-elect Donald Trump on President Biden’s late exit, but former campaign staffers dismiss this as “detached from reality.”
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Harris’s ex, attributed her defeat to poor strategy, saying, “They read the tea leaves wrong.” He argued her campaign failed to address whether electing a woman as president was viable after Hillary Clinton’s loss.
While noting Clinton was “traumatized for years” by her defeat, Brown expressed confidence that Harris would overcome this setback and continue her political career.
