My Sister Asked Me to Babysit Her Kids So I Told Her My Hourly Rates Were 25$

Subject: My sister got offended at the amount of money I asked from her for babysitting

Hi!

I’m Anne, 28, with a flexible job that lets me work from home. Last weekend, I planned to finish some work for a more relaxed week. On Friday, my sister Emma called, asking if I could babysit her 3 kids so she and her husband could take a spontaneous trip. I mentioned being busy, but Emma offered to pay me.

I agreed on $25 an hour, below my regular rate. She got offended, saying it was too much and that I’m family. I explained I’d miss work if I babysat. She called me selfish and hung up. Later, her husband messaged that they canceled their trip because of me. Bright Side, any advice on fixing things with Emma?

Your faithful reader, Anne
