GOP Inches Near House Majority

On November 6, following Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election and the GOP regaining control of the Senate, Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks secured a crucial House seat in Iowa.

This win brought the GOP closer to maintaining its House majority, key for advancing Trump’s policy changes without legislative gridlock. The race was extremely close, within 0.2 percentage points, and wasn’t officially called until 10:10 am EST, when Miller-Meeks was declared the winner with 50.1% of the vote, narrowly defeating Democrat Christina Bohannan, who garnered 49.9%.
