Gas Station Owner Tired Of Seeing Low-Income People Struggle Turns Heads With Blunt Sign

Note: we are republishing this story, which originally made the news in September 2016.

Lake Fork in East Texas, known for its big bass, is now getting attention for something else—a small convenience store called Star Mart. Owned by Frank Hemani, a “people person,” the store mainly serves locals and anglers.

Near the milk section, a sign reads: “If you don’t have money or a job, you can have a sandwich and a bottle of water for free.”

Frank, inspired by a YouTube video, started this gesture after seeing people in need, and he now gives out about six sandwiches weekly. Recently, he even made a pizza for a mother struggling to feed her kids.

Frank, who has lived in the community for 10 years and owns three businesses, said, “I have been blessed. I have never had to struggle.”
